Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Thursday, September 12, 2024)— Ninth-ranked Salt Lake (3-1, 1-1) handed the No. 12 Snow College Badgers (4-1, 1-1) their first loss of 2024 in a 2-0 game Thursday afternoon.
Going into this game, we really talked about bringing the mentality for a killer instinct," Bruins head coach Amy LePeilbet said after the win. "Last weekend got away from us. We created a lot of opportunities and didn't finish, so we knew when you get those opportunities, you've got to put them away."
Freshman forward Reika Yuba started the scoring early with an eighth-minute goal that Mao Ito assisted. It was the first career collegiate goal for the Wakayama, Japan native.
SLCC maintained that advantage until late in the half when Eliza Doxey found Sara Kudo for a 39th-minute goal. The Bruins took a 2-0 advantage into the halftime break.
Salt Lake's defense controlled the action in the second half, with Elle Rafajko notching her second clean sheet in the win.
"I thought the group did a fantastic job finishing today," LePeilbet stated. "It was just that little extra focus and the mentality to put it in the back of the net."
