Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Saturday, October 19, 2024)- No. 2 Salt Lake Men's Soccer (13-0-1, 10-0-1) defeated the College of Southern Idaho 5-1 and clinched first place in the conference.
This victory means the Bruins are the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular-season champs for the seventh straight year. Salt Lake has won the regular season eight out of the last nine years!
Defender, Diego Vasquez had a phenomenal game offensively, as he put the Bruins on the board off a corner kick from Forward Josh Garcia. Vasquez headed in a second goal off a beautiful cross from forward Ali Merghemi.
Merghemi kept the first half scoring going with a strong shot with his weak foot, and Garcia picked up another assist for the Bruins. Midfielder, Jorge De La Vibora Bonilla scored Salt Lake's fourth goal of the half off a CSI giveaway in the box.
Salt Lake got their lone goal of the second half on an own goal. Lois Thomas scored for CSI in the second half.
