TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Saturday, October 19, 2024)-  No. 2 Salt Lake Men's Soccer (13-0-1, 10-0-1) defeated the College of Southern Idaho 5-1 and clinched first place in the conference. 

This victory means the Bruins are the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular-season champs for the seventh straight year. Salt Lake has won the regular season eight out of the last nine years!

Defender, Diego Vasquez had a phenomenal game offensively, as he put the Bruins on the board off a corner kick from Forward Josh Garcia. Vasquez headed in a second goal off a beautiful cross from forward Ali Merghemi. 

Merghemi kept the first half scoring going with a strong shot with his weak foot, and Garcia picked up another assist for the Bruins. Midfielder, Jorge De La Vibora Bonilla scored Salt Lake's fourth goal of the half off a CSI giveaway in the box. 

Salt Lake got their lone goal of the second half on an own goal. Lois Thomas scored for CSI in the second half.

The undefeated Bruins will go on the road for the final week of the regular season. Thursday, October 24, against Pacific Northwest Community College. Saturday, October 26, versus North Idaho College.
