TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (August 25, 2023) – A preseason tournament in Arizona opened in split fashion for the No. 5 Salt Lake Community College volleyball team.
Playing in a tournament hosted by Arizona Western, the Bruins fell 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 14-25, 6-15) to Eastern Arizona to open the day, then responded with a 3-1 (25-12, 25-27, 25-23, 25-18) win over Chandler-Gilbert to close the day's action. The record levels Salt Lake at 3-3 overall.
SLCC hit just .135 in the loss to Eastern Arizona, committing 19 errors. Tessa Treanor had 9 kills in the loss. The Bruins responded with a .267 hitting percentage in the Chandler-Gilbert win, with Treanor posting 13 kills and 6 aces. Brinlie Crosbie had 20 assists in the victory.Â
The Bruins will close the tournament Saturday with matches against Eastern Florida State and Arizona Western.
