TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (August 18, 2023) – The No. 5 Salt Lake Community College volleyball team couldn't have started the 2023 season any better, earning a sweep in a home tournament.
SLCC posted a pair of wins to open the 'UFirst Intermountain Invitational', earning a 3-0 win over Daytona State (25-22, 25-16, 25-16) and a 3-1 victory against Missouri State – West Plains (25-17, 25-16, 14-25, 25-15). SLCC has opened the season with a mark of 2-0.
The Bruins will play Trinity Valley and Florida Southwestern on Saturday.
Salt Lake 3, Daytona State 0:Â Â Salt Lake controlled early and never surrendered momentum in the season-opening victory.
The Bruins hit a clean .305, while Daytona State hit just .061, committing 22 errors. SLCC held a 48-32 kill advantage.
Tessa Treanor posted 10 kills in the win, while Kylie Schroeder and Brenley Hansen had 8 kills each. Randi Reeves finished with 12 digs.
Salt Lake 3, Missouri State – West Plains 1: Strong defensive play lifted the Bruins to a win to finish the day.
SLCC held Missouri State to just .122 hitting, forcing 21 errors. The Bruins also posted 10 blocks in the win.Â
Tessa Treanor led Salt Lake with 16 kills, while Brinlie Crosbie had 39 assists. Treanor also posted 11 digs.
