SLCC Women's Soccer announces hire of Amy LePeilbet

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (August 10, 2023) – The Salt Lake Community College Athletic Department wasted no time in deciding on the new leadership for its nationally-acclaimed women's soccer program.

In an announcement, Kevin Dustin, SLCC Director of Athletics-and-Recreation, announced Bruins associate head coach Amy LePeilbet will be elevated to serve as the program's head coach, replacing Cassie Ulrich. Ulrich resigned from her coaching position after taking a position as an assistant coach with the University of Denver.

Dustin thanked Ulrich for her service to Salt Lake's program.

"I want to say thanks to Cassie for all she did for Salt Lake Community College soccer and wish her luck in her new position," he said. "Cassie has an incredible career ahead of her and will always be a member of the Bruin family."

LePeilbet has served on the Salt Lake coaching staff for the past two seasons, including SLCC's 2022 run to the NJCAA final. Prior to coaching at Salt Lake, LePeilbet was the interim coach for the Utah Royals.

After going through the hiring process, Dustin said LePeilbet's elevation to the head coaching position was an easy decision.

"Having someone of Amy's experience and knowledge of the game to lead SLCC women's soccer is a real asset to the school," he said. "Amy's care for her athletes is what made this choice easy. She is universally respected in the soccer world and will allow the program to continue to excel. Amy is a wonderful colleague and a great collaborator. She will be able to surround herself with great assistant coaches and we look forward to this chapter in our growth as a department."

A graduate of Arizona State, where she was also a student-athlete, LePeilbet played professional women's soccer in the NWSL prior to entering coaching. She was a standout player for the U.S. Women's National Team, earning 84 caps from 2004 through 2013. As a stalwart outside back, LePeilbet helped lead the United States to gold at the 2012 London Olympics and silver at the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany.

"I want to thank Athletic Director Kevin Dustin for the wonderful opportunity to lead the SLCC women's soccer team," said LePeilbet. "I have loved being a part of this program over the last two seasons and I am very excited to continue with the team. We will work hard daily to carry on the success of the program."

LePeilbet's coaching accomplishments include being the Interim Head Coach for the Utah Royals in the NWSL in 2020 after serving as an Assistant Coach and Director of Professional Development from 2018-2020. In 2019, she was also the Head Coach for the Utah Royals Reserves where she led the team to the WPSL National Final and earned recognition as the Mountain Conference Coach of the Year. In addition to coaching in the NWSL, LePeilbet has also coached within the U.S. Youth National Team circuit for the U23s, U20s, and U18s.

Salt Lake will open the season on August 19 with Central Wyoming College.
