Cross Country: The SLCC Cross Country program will compete for the first time every on Thursday in a meet at Utah Valley University.
Under the leadership of coach
Isaac Wood, the Bruins will field teams in the competition, completing a remarkable rise for the upstart program. Finally, after months of recruiting and preparation, SLCC will take to the start line.
"We're training through this week so it will not be something that we'll be 'gunning for', so to speak," said Wood. "It will be really cool to have the school represented in Cross Country in a real competition for the first time."
Wood noted the Utah Valley meet will provide a good benchmark for his program.
"This race will be against a lot of really good NCAA teams like Utah Valley, BYU, and Southern Utah, so it will be a fun challenge for our athletes," said Wood.
Men's Soccer: After completing an undefeated preseason, the No. 2 Bruins will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play Thursday against an in-state rival.
SLCC will host No. 14 Snow College at the SLCC Soccer Complex, with a scheduled start of 3:30. The Bruins are coming off a 5-0 win over Central Wyoming.

SLCC coach Shay Goulding Meurer said her team is looking forward to another weekend of strong competition.
"We are looking forward to another great weekend of strong competition," she stated. "We will need to have all gears turning for each of our four opponents. We are not overlooking anyone."
Looking back at the strong start to the year, one of the highlights for SLCC has been its strong team chemistry, noted Goulding Meurer.
"I am really excited about how we are playing as a team right now," she said. "Everyone is showing tremendous support for each other on-and-off the court. On Saturday, we proved that our system of play could also dismantle much bigger teams."
Women's Soccer: The No. 4 Bruins will head into their Scenic West Athletic Conference opener with much-needed momentum.
Salt Lake will open Scenic West with a titanic matchup, featuring the No. 8 Snow College Lady Badgers traveling to play at SLCC in match that will be bigger than just a conference opener. Both programs are considered Scenic West title contenders, with aspirations to be NJCAA title contenders.
