No. 3 SLCC Volleyball closes season with win in NJCAA consolation bracket, end year as No. 5 team in national tournament

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 19, 2022) – The No. 3 Salt Lake Community College Volleyball team closed a remarkable 2022 season with a win, it just wasn't the win they wanted.

All season long, SLCC had successfully announced its return as one of the NJCAA's preeminent programs, holding the No. 1 ranking for much of the season. Its campaign fell just short of its highest hopes, with the Bruins earning a 3-2 win over Western Nebraska in the fifth-place consolation game to finish the 2022 NJCAA Division-I Volleyball Tournament in Missouri. Salt Lake prevailed with set scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-21, 26-28, 15-12.

In a match that went back-and-forth, the Bruins finished with a hitting percentage of .257, with Laura Fiabane posting 55 assists in the match. Sandora Sasaki had 20 kills, while Sammy Perry finished with 14 kills.

The tournament proved to provide many individual highlights, particularly ones focused on setter Laura Fiabane. Fiabane earned a number of career and national statistical titles during the national tournament, led by her finishing the country by averaging 11.63 assists-per-set. She also became the SLCC single-season assists leader on Friday, along with becoming second all-time in program history with 2,111 total assists.

Salt Lake ended the 2022 season with an overall record of 30-4.
