The No. 3 Salt Lake Community College Volleyball team opened the NJCAA Division-I Volleyball Championships in West Plains, Mo., with the expectation of earning a pair of victories to advance to Friday's semifinals. Unfortunately, SLCC was mixed in meeting those expectations, posting a 3-0 win over No. 14 Eastern Arizona to open the day, then falling 3-1 to No. 6 Miami Dade in the NJCAA quarterfinals.Â

Salt Lake is now 28-4 overall. The Bruins will drop to the NJCAA consolation bracket on Friday, with a match against No. 7 Trinity Valley.

SLCC 3, Eastern Arizona 0: Salt Lake opened the national tournament with a 25-15, 26-24, 25-15 victory over Eastern Arizona.

The Bruins posted a hitting percentage of .271, finishing with just 13 hitting errors.
Kylie Schroeder had 12 kills to lead Salt Lake, while
Laura Fiabane contributed 34 assists.

Miami Dade 3, Salt Lake 1: SLCC lost its NJCAA quarterfinal match, falling by set scores of 17-25, 25-21, 10-25, 20-25.

The Bruins hit just .225 in the loss, committing 17 attack errors and having 9 service errors. Miami Dade hit .346.Â
