Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 17, 2022) – A remarkable 2022 season is over for the No. 4 Salt Lake Community College Men's Soccer team.
Entering Thursday's NJCAA semifinals, the Bruins were hoping to make their second NJCAA championship match in 18 months, having to get through No. 7 Arizona Western to achieve that goal. Instead, SLCC will head home after falling in a 2-1 decision to the Matadors.
In a match that went back-and-forth, Arizona Western posted an early goal in the first half to take a 1-0 lead at intermission. The Bruins responded with a goal in the 50
th minute, thanks to Ty Sanchez, to tie the match at 1-1. Unfortunately, Arizona Western scored minutes later to take a lead it never surrendered.
It was Salt Lake who actually was the aggressor on offense, holding a 10-3 advantage in total shots. Arizona Western goalkeeper Atsuki Sato posted five saves for the Matadors.
Salt Lake will end the season with a record of 14-2-1.
