TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 20, 2022) – Entering the final week of regular season play, the No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Soccer team flexed its muscle in a home match Thursday.
Hosting Truckee Meadows Community College, the Bruins moved to a 4-0 win over Truckee Meadows to move to 2-0 against the Lizards this season. The victory also lifted SLCC to 11-0 overall and 9-0 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
With both teams tied at 0-0 after a scoreless first half,
Zion Wagoner opened the scoring in the 57
th minute.
Ty Sanchez then added a goal in the 61
st minute, thanks to a
Samson Ahisu assist, with
Alex Fritcher posting a goal in the 68
th minute to give SLCC a 3-0 lead.
Francisco Tita scored an unassisted goal in the 80
th minute.
The Bruins dominated the match, holding a 16-2 edge in total shots and a 9-2 mark in shots-on-goal. SLCC goalkeepers
Ben Williams and Matthew Martineli both posted a save.
Salt Lake will host USU Eastern on Saturday in the program's 'Sophomore Day'. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
