Cross Country: The SLCC Cross Country programs are flying high ahead of a weekend invitational in the Bay Area.
Salt Lake will travel to compete in the 'Santa Clara Bronco Invitational' this Saturday, continuing a stretch of four consecutive weeks of competition. The Bruins will finish the Cross Country season on November 12 with the NJCAA Nationals.
SLCC coach
Isaac Wood said his team will be challenged in the Santa Clara meet.
"This is probably the most important competition we've had thus far as a program racing at the 'Santa Clara Bronco Invitational'," he said. "Competing against some of the best teams in the western United States regardless of division will be a great litmus test for our athletes so we can see where we stack up. We're hoping to get some great racing experience in a large, fast field to prepare us for the NJCAA Championships on November 12th."
Men's Soccer: The No. 2 Bruins will have a week of competition on the road ahead.
Salt Lake will start the week on Wednesday with a road match at Southern Nevada, then will head out for a Saturday matchup at No. 14 Snow College. SLCC is a combined 2-0 against both opponents this season, having earned a 1-0 win over the Badgers earlier this season in Taylorsville.
The Bruins will conclude the regular season next week with Truckee Meadows and USU Eastern.
Volleyball: It has been landmark season already for the No. 1 SLCC Volleyball team, with additional opportunities to add acclaim coming this week.
Salt Lake will play a pair of home matches this week, hosting No. 7 Snow College on Friday and the College of Southern Nevada on Saturday. SLCC has downed both teams on the road this season, earning a 3-1 win over Snow and a 3-0 win at Southern Nevada.
With the Bruins sitting at 21-2 overall and 5-0 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, this weekend will be critical for SLCC to remain atop the league standings, said Salt Lake coach
Shay Goulding Meurer.
"This is a huge weekend for our team," she said. "Snow is one of the best programs in the country, so we will have to be fully prepared to play a team of their caliber. We also can't underestimate a talented team like Southern Nevada, which is always tough to prepare for."
Women's Soccer: The No. 4 SLCC Women's Soccer team will look to stay undefeated this weekend in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Salt Lake will take to the road for contests with both Southern Nevada and No. 10 Snow College, with the Snow College match figuring to prominently factor in SLCC's Scenic West Athletic Conference title hopes. Entering this week, Salt Lake is sitting at 5-0 while Snow is at 6-1-1.
The Bruins will have just one week left in the regular season after this week.
