TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 9, 2021) – A return to the pitch of Zions Bank Stadium ended victoriously for the No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Soccer program.
The Bruins earned a 4-0 win over in-state rival USU Eastern in their Scenic West Athletic Conference home opener, playing well after taking last week off. The win boosts SLCC to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in Scenic West play.
Salt Lake scored early, posting a score in the 18
th minute on a
Ryen Jiba goal.
Luis Reyes followed up with a goal in the 27
th minute to give SLCC a 2-0 lead.
Omar Gomez scored in the 61
st minute to put the Bruins up 3-0, while
Damian Aguello scored on a Jiba assist in the 68
th minute.
SLCC held a 17-9 advantage in total shots in the match. Bruins goalkeeper
Christian Olivares made four saves in the win.
Salt Lake will host Colorado Northwestern on Sunday at Zions Bank Stadium.
