Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (June 5, 2021) - Noted rock artist Tom Petty once quipped how 'the waiting is the hardest part'.

The No. 2 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team had plenty of waiting to do in advance of its first-ever berth into the NJCAA Division-I Women's Soccer Semifinals, thanks to two overtime periods and a prolonged lightning delay in a Saturday match with No. 7 Seminole State. However, the wait made the end result that much sweeter as SLCC made school history with a 3-3 shootout win over Seminole State, winning the shootout by a margin of 3-2.

Action was fast-and-furious in the final match of pool play, with Seminole State scoring just 11 seconds into the match. SLCC responded a minute later to tie the match on a Cassidy Adams goal, with Seminole scoring a pair of goals to take a 3-1 lead in the 50th minute. A rainy afternoon in Georgia ensued from there, bringing a lightning delay that helped reset the Bruins.  Emma Fry scored a goal in the 52nd minute, while Quincy Richards tied the match in the 84th minute.

SLCC and Seminole State played two scoreless overtime periods before heading to a shootout. Salt Lake took early momentum in those pressure-packed moments, with Hannah Lee converting early to give SLCC an early edge. Tied 2-2 heading into the final sequence, Seminole's Kayle DeLeon missed while SLCC's Ashlyn Hall converted, sending the Bruins to Monday's NJCAA semifinals.

Salt Lake will now advance to the play the third-highest seed that advances to the semifinals in a 7:30 p.m. EST match on Monday, played in Evans, Georgia.
