TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (June 22, 2021) – The nationally-renown Salt Lake Community College volleyball program continues to add to its coaching staff prior to the Fall 2021 season.

Tuesday, SLCC announced the hire of Chris Tellesbo as an assistant coach, rounding out the staff under head coach Shay Goulding Meurer. Tellesbo has a great deal of experience coaching volleyball in the state of Utah, working with several prep programs.

Goulding Meurer said the hire of Tellesbo adds a significant credibility to the Salt Lake coaching staff.

"I am over the top excited to have Chris Tellesbo join our staff," she said. "He is passionate about volleyball and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will complement our staff. Chris is fully invested and hungry to increase his ability to serve student athletes on and off the court. He has already proven to be a big asset for me and will be a critical ingredient in our success going forward."

Tellesbo has worked extensively in the Utah prep circuit, coaching at Corner Canyon, Brighton and Skyline, helping the programs to a combined five region titles and seven state tournament appearances. As a volleyball athlete, he won a club state championship at Skyline High School, playing three years for the Utah men's club team and working as a practice player with Utah Volleyball.

A graduate of the University of Utah, Tellesbo an undergraduate degree in Physics and Applied Mathematics. Additionally, he holds a graduate degree in Physics. Outside of volleyball, he studied planetary dynamics and spent a semester interning for NASA at Marshall Space Flight Center.Â
Tellesbo said joining SLCC is a significant opportunity for him.
"It's an honor to be joining the SLCC Volleyball staff," he said. "Shay is a very knowledgeable coach and has already made me feel at home. I look forward to learning from her and working with her to develop these athletes on-and-off the court."
