HERRIMAN, Utah (May 22, 2021) – A dominant performance in the NJCAA West District championship match has sent the No. 2 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team to the NJCAA tournament.

SLCC earned a strong 4-0 win over Cochise College in the West District title match, sending the Bruins to their first-ever berth in the NJCAA tournament. The win boosts Salt Lake to 13-1 overall, with Salt Lake expecting a likely high seed in the upcoming tournament.

"I'm so proud of both teams today for how they battled so hard to get to this point," said Bruins coach
Mark Davis. "We're so excited to go to the national tournament, and we can't wait to get started on Monday and start preparing.

SLCC wasted little time in scoring in the match, posting a goal in the 16
th minute on a Kaytlyn Larson score.
Ashlyn Hall later added a goal to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead at the half, with
Kallyn Chynoweth posting a score in the 68
th minute to up the advantage to 3-0.
Anna Pinegar closed off the scoring in the 81
st minute, scoring after picking up an assist earlier in the match.

Salt Lake dominated the match offensively, posting a 36-1 edge in total shots with a 14-0 margin in shots-on-goal. On the defensive side, SLCC goalie
Carli Jager preserved a shutout win.

The Bruins will await their opponent for the upcoming NJCAA national tourney, which will be held June 3-8 in Evans, Georgia.Â
