TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 1, 2021) – The No. 3 Salt Lake Community College Men's Soccer team ended its match Saturday without a lead for the first time this season.
SLCC, the Scenic West Athletic Conference leaders, played to a 2-2 draw with in-state rival Snow College after 120 minutes of play. With the draw, Salt Lake's record moved to 7-0-1, with a 6-0-1 Scenic West record.
The score at halftime was 1-0 in favor of the Bruins. The lone goal of the half came in the 10th minute when sophomore forward
Ryen Jiba found
Taimu Okiyoshi for the score. Snow College responded with two goals of its own midway through the second half.
Omar Gomez would notch the game up on a penalty kick in the 74th minute. The score stood through regulation and two 15-minute overtime periods.
Bruin goalkeeper
Jose Arellano had two saves in the final 8 minutes, preserving Salt Lake's unblemished record. SLCC also held the edge on corner kicks and shots on goal.
Two games are on the Bruins' schedule in the upcoming week, with the first slated for Thursday at 3:00 pm against Utah State Eastern.
