Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 30, 2021) – The No. 6 Salt Lake Community College Women's Soccer team battled with No. 2 Snow College twice this season, falling just shy in each occasion.
 
With that in mind, revenge was a sweet dish for the Bruins to enjoy Saturday, with SLCC downing Snow in a 1-0 decision in the Region 18 championship match. The victory lifts Salt Lake to 13-3-1, simultaneously advancing SLCC to the NJCAA West District tournament.
 
 Bruins coach Cassie Ulrich said she is elated at the accomplishment of her players.

"I'm so incredibly proud of our ladies," she said. "Our players came into this game with the highest level of commitment and focus, and earned us an absolute team win."

The victory truly was a team win, with multiple SLCC players having to contribute in a match that was heavy on defense. The lone goal of the match was scored in the first half, with SLCC's Cecilia Norman scoring a goal on a Kallyn Chynoweth assist. Lauren Call was named 'Most Valuable Player' for the tournament, contributing in both Thursday's semifinal win over USU Eastern and Saturday's championship triumph.

Ulrich noted Call's impact on SLCC's overall performance.

"Lauren is our engine on the field and deserved this recognition for the impact she has in games," she said. "She completely dominates her individual battles. Without a doubt, Lauren will run through a brick wall for this team."

Overall, Ulrich discussed how SLCC's 'team-first' mindset played a strong role in helping her program propel through adversity at different points of the season.

"I feel honored to coach a group that plays the way we did in this tournament," she said. "Everyone was bought in on an entirely different level than we have seen. I also can't thank our staff enough for the work they put in to prepare for this weekend."
