Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 6, 2019) - The No. 9 Salt Lake Community College volleyball team fared well in Friday action of a preseason tournament at the College of Southern Idaho.
Facing off against No. 4 Miami-Dade College and Laramie County Community College, the Bruins managed a 1-1 split of the action, earning a 3-0Â win over Laramie County (25-20, 25-19, 25-14) and a 3-0 loss to Miami-Dade (17-25, 23-25, 18-25). The split leaves the Bruins with an overall record of 10-1.
Salt Lake will play two more matches on Saturday in the tournament, facing Treasure Valley Community College at 9:00 a.m. and Casper College at 1:00 p.m. The Bruins will play in a tournament hosted by the College of Southern Nevada next weekend.Â
Salt Lake 3, Laramie County 0: A strong performance helped SLCC to a victory in the day's first match.

The Bruins had control of the match from the beginning, controlling all three sets with a good mix of offensive and defensive energy. SLCC hit .271 as a team, with

Kenadee Christensen and
Gwen Russell all finishing with 7 kills apiece.Â
Salt Lake also had 6Â team blocks and 6 aces in the morning's victory.Â
Miami-Dade 3, Salt Lake 0:Â In a back-and-forth matchup of two Top-10 programs, Miami-Dade was able to control the match in a win over Salt Lake.
Ariane Pola and
Kaitlynn Bradley both finished with 5 kills in the match, with
Gwen Russell finishing with 4 kills. Pola and Bradley also contributed 9 blocks.Â
