Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 28, 2019) - A week off did little to affect the momentum of the No. 5 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team.
The Bruins earned a 2-1 road win over Truckee Meadows Community College Saturday, controlling the tempo of the match against the newly-minted member of the Scenic West Athletic Conference. The win boosts SLCC's overall record to 6-0-1 and 3-0-1 in Scenic West play. The match took place in unusually cold temperatures in northern Nevada, with snow falling for much of the match in the Reno area.Â
It was Truckee Meadows who took an early 1-0 lead after scoring in the first half.
Hannah Lee proved to be Salt Lake's hero for the day as she scored on an
Emma Stone assist late in the first half to tie the match, then scored on an unassisted play early in the second half to clinch the win.Â
SLCC coach
Mark Davis said the comeback win was a building moment for his team.
"The players found a way to win," he said. "It shows their grit to be able to pull through. The weather conditions were far from ideal."
Salt Lake will travel to play at Colorado Northwestern Community College and USU Eastern next week in Scenic West play. The match against the Spartans is scheduled for Thursday, with the USU Eastern match scheduled for Saturday.
