Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 21, 2019) - After an up-and-down weekend in the Las Vegas Valley a week ago, the cool-and-ranging hills of the Wyoming and Nebraska plains proved to be a soothing balm for the No. 13 Salt Lake Community College volleyball team.
The Bruins finished the 'Wyobraska' tournament with a sterling record of 4-0, thanks to a 3-1 win over Laramie County Community College (25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 25-17) in the tournament's final match on Saturday. The win helps Salt Lake improve its record to 17-4 overall.
SLCCÂ dominated the match offensively, with several individual student-athletes having sterling performances.
Allie Beck led the team with a double-double of 12 kills and 13 digs. Defensively,Â
Sammi Johnston finished with 21 digs and Holland Vande Merwe had 18 digs. Both
Ariane Pola and
Rachael Warren finished with 7 blocks, apiece.Â
After a long preseason, SLCC will return home for a final preseason match on Tuesday against Western Wyoming Community College, in the program's annual 'Alumni Night'. The Bruins will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play against nationally-ranked USU Eastern Thursday. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start inside the Lifetime Activities Center.Â
