Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 21, 2019) - The No. 4 Salt Lake Community College men's soccer program picked up yet another impressive victory Saturday, downing the College of Southern Nevada in a Scenic West Athletic Conference clash.
The Bruins earned a 4-1 win over the Coyotes - a victory that will carry both conference and national implications as CSN has previously been nationally ranked in NJCAA polls and is currently receiving votes in the polls. The win pushes Salt Lake's overall record to 6-0-1 and a mark of 4-0-0 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
SLCC held a firm advantage in the match, owning a 20-10 edge in shots and a 15-6 lead in shots-on-goal.
Ryen Jiba had a career day as he helped put Salt Lake on the board with a goal in the 21st minute, giving the Bruins a 1-0 halftime lead.Â
Jiba scored an unassisted goal just 26 seconds into the second half to stretch the lead to 2-0, followed up by another Jiba goal minutes later to push the edge to 3-0. CSN respond with a goal in the 86th minute to cut the deficit but SLCC's
Kevin Lopes responded with a goal with just minutes left to clinch the victory. Jiba took a team-high 7 shots, of which 6 shots were on-goal.Â
Salt Lake will travel on the road once again next weekend, taking on Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, Nev., next Saturday. The Bruins' next home match is scheduled for October 10 in Herriman as they take on the College of Southern Nevada.Â
