Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 20, 2019) - The No. 13 Salt Lake Community College volleyball team earned a pair of strong victories Friday, moving to 3-0 in the Wyobraska tourney.
The Bruins earned a 3-1 win over No. 19 Northeastern Junior College ( 23-25, 27-25, 25-20, 25-21) and a 3-1 win over Eastern Wyoming College (25-17, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19) Friday, continuing their rebound from a tough weekend of competition a week ago. The wins push Salt Lake's overall record to 16-4 overall.
SLCC will play its final match of the tourney on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. against Laramie County Community College. The Bruins host a non-conference match against Western Wyoming Community College on Tuesday and open Scenic West Athletic Conference play next Thursday at home against USU Eastern.
Salt Lake 3, Northeastern 1: SLCC earned its second victory of the season against Northeastern, picking up another impressive victory over the nationally-ranked foe.
Ariane Pola had 20 kills in the win and 5 blocks to lead the Bruins to the win.
Talia Myers and
Rachael Warren both finished with 10 blocks apiece in the victory. Salt Lake's offensive success largely started with the individual play of
Bruna Correa, with Correa finishing with 41 assists.Â
Salt Lake 3, Eastern Wyoming 1: The Bruins finished the day with a strong victory over the home state team.
SLCC was led, once again, by
Ariane Pola who finished with 19 kills and hit .310 in the match.
Allie Beck had 12 kills while
Bruna Correa contributed 39 assists to pace the Bruins.
Sidney Frith led Salt Lake with 4 aces in the match.Â
