Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 19, 2019) - The No. 13 Salt Lake Community College women's volleyball team will play tournaments across two different states this weekend, giving the team a mix of environments.
If Thursday night's tournament opening match against nationally-recognized Western Nebraska Community College was any indication, SLCC will be just fine throughout the Wyobraska tourney as the Bruins picked up a 3-2 win (15-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23, 21-19) in Scottsbluff, Neb. The win boosts Salt Lake's overall record to 14-4.
While SLCC was certainly never outclassed at any point of the match, a slow start helped down the Bruins as they pushed throughout the first two sets. After earning a win in the third set, Salt Lake repeatedly battled before earning a thrilling fifth-set victory.
Kenadee Christensen finished with 14 kills to lead the team, while
Ariane Pola had a double-double of 11 kills and 11 blocks. Defensively,Â
Sammi Johnston had a team-high 33 digs for SLCC.Â
The Bruins will play a pair of matches on Friday, facing nationally-ranked Northeastern Junior College and Eastern Wyoming College. The team will close the tournament on Saturday with a match against Laramie County Community College.Â
