No. 4 SLCC Men's Soccer takes undefeated league record on road

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 17, 2019) - The No. 4 Salt Lake Community College men's soccer program had a successful start to the Scenic West Athletic Conference season last weekend, going 2-0 in their first two league matches.

The Bruins are hoping for more of the same this weekend as they take their nationally-ranked show on the road with matches at Snow College and at the College of Southern Nevada. SLCC has started the year at 4-0-1 and already has a one game lead in the Scenic West standings.

Salt Lake coach Mark Davis, who earned his 100th win as a collegiate coach last weekend, said his team is prepared for the challenge ahead.

"This is a big week," he said. "We don't change much about how we approach things this week. We treat every training with great attention to detail.  Playing on the road will be a good test for our team."

The two matches this week will come against teams who are also nationally-recognized. Snow College is currently ranked at No. 18 in the national polls, thanks to a 1-0 start in league play that featured a 1-0 win over Southern Nevada. The Badgers were on a four-game winning streak heading into two matches with Arizona schools early this week.

CSN was nationally-ranked earlier in the season but has fallen back after going 0-2 in action last week; however, the Coyotes are still receiving votes in the national polls. Southern Nevada opened the season 4-0 before going 1-3 over the past few weeks.

Salt Lake's match at Snow College will be played on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in Ephraim. The team will then travel to Southern Nevada to play at Heritage Field in Henderson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. SLCC's next home match is scheduled for Oct. 10 against Southern Nevada.
