Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 13, 2019) - Whatever wild things happen on September 13, the No. 8 Salt Lake Community College volleyball team was certainly part of a wild day in a preseason tournament hosted by the College of Southern Nevada.
The Bruins finished the day with a split, downing. No. 1 Seward County Community College by a score of 3-2 (16-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-14, 16-14) and falling to Arizona Western by a score of 3-2 (25-13, 14-25, 23-25, 25-19, 17-19) in the morning session. The split leaves SLCC with an overall record of 13-2.
Salt Lake will face No. 4 Miami Dade College at 8:00 a.m. in the morning, facing off against Central Wyoming College at 1:00 p.m. SLCC's next home match is scheduled for Sept. 24 against Western Wyoming.
Salt Lake 3, Seward County 2: A momentous win for the SLCC team happened in the day's second match.
The Bruins earned a victory over the nation's top team in the late session, earning a late victory. Previously in the day, Seward County had beaten No. 4 Miami Dade and Salt Lake was able to earn the victory over SCCC thanks to an offensive performance that featured 50 kills and 5 aces.
Kenadee Christensen finished with 17 kills and a hitting percentage of .310.
Ariane Pola also had 9 kills and contributed 6 blocks. SLCC's defense posted 72 digs in the five-set thriller.
Arizona Western 3, Salt Lake 2: A back-and-forth match ended in a narrow SLCC loss.
The Bruins fell in five sets, with the final set going extra time.
Kenadee Christensen finished with 15 kills and 6 blocks, while
Bruna Correa had 32 kills in the match.
Gwen Russell also contributed 10 kills for SLCC.
