Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 12, 2019) - The No. 5 Salt Lake Community College men's soccer team continued its dominant start to the 2019 season, earning an impressive win to open Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
SLCC picked up an 8-0 win over in-state rival USU Eastern Thursday, dominating from the match's beginning at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman. The win boosts SLCC's overall record to 3-0-1 and 1-0 in Scenic West play.Â
Salt Lake scored a goal just 4:24 into the match as
Ntezey Swalita connected on a shot to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.
Samuel Owusu scored a goal in the 29th minute to give SLCC a 2-0 lead at halftime. The second-half action was also owned by the home team as
Jason Chavez,
Dalton Gibson,
Ryen Jiba, Daniel Mulholland and
Kevin Lopes all scored goals.
Arturo Martin scored in the 90th minute to punctuate the impressive victory.
The offensive performance by the Bruins was striking as SLCC posted a 31-2 advantage in shots and a 14-0 advantage in shots-on-goal.
Raul Sanchez and Jiba both took a team-high 4 shots apiece.
Isaac Roy earned the win at goalie, also picking up the shutout.
The Bruins will continue their Scenic West opening weekend with a match against Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday. SLCC will face the Spartans at 11:00 a.m. outside the Lifetime Activities Center in Taylorsville.Â
