SLCC Volleyball sweeps Saturday action in Casper, opens season at 4-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (August 24, 2019) - All-in-all, the Salt Lake Community College volleyball team had very little to worry about after finishing Saturday's action at a tournament hosted by Casper College (WY). 

The Bruins successfully opened the season with a 4-0 record, earning a number of straight-set wins and also bested a nationally-ranked opponent. That successful ending was thanks to Saturday's success, which featured a 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-14) win over Northwestern College and a 3-0 win over Sheridan College (25-18, 25-21, 26-24). 

Salt Lake will play its home opener on Thursday in the Lifetime Activities Center against Central Wyoming College, followed up by the program hosting its annual "Crystal 'Inn'vitational" over the Labor Day weekend. SLCC's Scenic West Athletic Conference opener is scheduled for September 26 against USU Eastern.

Salt Lake 3, Northwestern 0: The Bruins controlled throughout their first match of the day, earning a strong victory.

Ariane Pola led SLCC with 9 kills, while Talia Myers had 8 kills. Bruna Correa powered Salt Lake's offense with 18 assists in the win. 

Salt Lake 3, Sheridan 0: The Bruins finished off the day's sweep, winning in straight-sets. 

Ariane Pola once again led Salt Lake with 9 kills in the match, also posting 3 blocks in the victory.
