TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 16, 2019) - The No. 3Â Salt Lake Community College men's soccer team is in position to accomplish many of its preseason goals at the moment.
The Bruins have already accomplished one of their primary goals - repeating as Scenic West Athletic Conference champions. SLCC captured the SWAC regular season title with a 1-0 victory over Snow College last Saturday, giving the team consecutive titles and consecutive opportunities to host the Region 18 championships, which the team will do next week as it hosts at Zions Bank Stadium. Sitting at a perfect 9-0 in league play, the Bruins will go for an undefeated record entering the postseason as they host Truckee Meadows Community College this Friday in Herriman.
SLCC coach
Mark Davis said his team is in an impressive place as they prepare for the postseason.
"We put ourselves in the best position possible," he said. "Our team has clinched a conference title while being undefeated with one match left on Friday. We are optimistic and can't wait for the regional tournament."
Salt Lake will open the Region 18 tournament as the top seed and will play the No. 4 team in a match on November 1 at Zions Bank Stadium. The winner of that semifinal will advance to the championship match on Nov. 2. Before then, SLCC will play a Truckee Meadows program that is sitting in third place behind Snow College and SLCC with 11 points. Both USU Eastern and the College of Southern Nevada sit at 9 points, with all of the programs vying to finish inside the region tourney.
SLCC's match with Truckee Meadows is scheduled to begin on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman.Â
