No. 10 SLCC Volleyball prepped for road matches

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 15, 2019) - The No. 10 Salt Lake Community College volleyball team will hit the road as the regular season begins winding down this week.

With just three weekends of play remaining in the Scenic West Athletic Conference season, the Bruins will head out for a two-match road trip with Colorado Northwestern Community College and No. 17 USU Eastern, giving the team yet another matchup with a nationally-ranked in-state foe. Entering the weekend matchups, SLCC is sitting in a three-way tie for second place in the league with USU Eastern and Southern Idaho.

In preparation for the critical two-match road swing, SLCC coach Sue Dulaney said her team needs to shore up several things in preparation for the matches.

"We need to do a better job of competiting as we enter the second half of conference play," she said.

The Bruins will face a Colorado Northwestern program that enters Thursday's match with momentum, thanks to winning their first Scenic West match of the season last Saturday against Southern Nevada. CNCC is 4-14 overall and 1-4 in the Scenic West standings. USU Eastern continues its upward trend in the 2019 season, sitting at 3-2 in the league and 22-7 overall. The Eagles are coming off a 3-0 loss to No. 5 Snow in their last match; USU Eastern was previously on a three-match winning streak before then.

Salt Lake will play Colorado Northwestern on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in Rangely, Colo. The Bruins will play in Price against USU Eastern on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. SLCC's next home match is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24, against the College of Southern Nevada.
