SLCC Men's Soccer to continue road trip with in-state rival, regional foe

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 1, 2019) - The start of October means the Salt Lake Community College men's soccer team only has a few weeks to make a final statement about its ability and to cement the Scenic West Athletic Conference title.

Luckily, the No. 5 Bruins have shown an ability to live up to billing, opening the 2019 season with a mark of 7-0-1 and 5-0-0 in Scenic West play. SLCC takes its nationally-ranked show on the road this week, traveling to play an in-state rival in USU Eastern and a regional rival in Colorado Northwestern; this all after scoring 22 goals in the last four matches.

SLCC coach Mark Davis said his team is encouraged by their recent play and ready for the opportunity of the upcoming week.

"This will be a big weekend for our players, traveling to Colorado and Price," he said. "This will be our fifth consecutive game on the road. The players will be ready to go and we are looking forward to an important week of training."

Salt Lake has a perfect 5-0 record in league play, good for first-place ahead of 4-1 Snow College. USU Eastern is 1-2-2 in the first run-through of the Scenic West; SLCC had an 8-0 win over USU Eastern to open league play on September 12. Colorado Northwestern earned its first win in program history in a 1-0 victory over Western Wyoming in its season-opener.

SLCC will open the road trip with a 3:00 p.m. match against Colorado Northwestern on Thursday. The Bruins will play USU Eastern in Price on Saturday, with scheduled start time of 1:00 p.m. Salt Lake's next home match is scheduled for Oct. 10 vs. Southern Nevada.
