Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 8, 2018) - The No. 5 Salt Lake Community College volleyball program went through its third consecutive weekend of tournament play with its third consecutive weekend of perfection.
The Bruins earned two impressive wins Saturday to move their preseason record to 13-0, earning a 3-1 victory over Northwest College (25-14, 25-12, 22-25, 25-18) and a 3-0 victory over Casper College (25-17, 25-16, 25-14). Salt Lake has the most wins of any team in the Scenic West Athletic Conference at this point in the season.
SLCC will play one more preseason tournament, playing in a round-robin tourney hosted by SWACÂ foe Southern Nevada next weekend. Salt Lake will play Yavapai College and Seward County Community College Friday, with matches against Western Nebraska and Arizona Western on Saturday.
Salt Lake 3, Northwest College 1: The Bruins picked up another big victory, defeating Northwest College for the second time this season.Â
Hellen Lacava continued her stay at the top of Salt Lake's offensive numbers, finishing with 13 kills.
Kayla Elliott finished with 8 kills, while
Ariane Pola finished with 8 kills and .400 kill percentage.
Callie Whitney posted 23 digs, while
Hellen Lacava finished with 21 digs.
Bruna Correa finished with a team-high 39 assists.
Salt Lake 3, Casper College 0: SLCCÂ posted 41 kills in a dominating performance over Casper College.
Kayla Elliott led the Bruins with 8 kills, while Lacava and
Ryley Daniel posted 7 kills each. The Bruins held a hitting percentage of 50.6 percentage on kill opportunities. Elliott posted a hitting-efficiency rating of .889 (8 kills on 9 attempts) to lead the program.
