Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 15, 2018) - The No. 15 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer program extended its winning streak to seven matches Saturday, moving to 2-0 in league play in the process.
SLCCÂ earned a 2-1 victory over in-state rival USU Eastern at Zions Bank Stadium, extending its record in the Scenic West Athletic Conference to 2-0 and 7-0 overall. In the process, the Bruins became the only unbeaten team in league play, with Snow College not opening its league schedule till next weekend.
While Salt Lake has dominated most matches this season, USU Eastern played the Bruins close to the vest, keeping the match scoreless until the 86th minute when SLCC'sÂ
Samantha Tippetts finally broke the tie on an unassisted goal. Then, a minute later,
Madison Schmidt took an assist from
Jayne Schiess and gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead.
In spite of the low score, Salt Lake dominated the match offensively, holding a 24-4 edge in shots-on-goal. SLCC also held a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bruins will travel to play in-state rival Snow College next weekend in SWACÂ play, with the Badgers sitting with a record of 5-0 to start the season. Friday's match will begin at 1:00 p.m. in Ephraim, while Saturday's match will start at 11:00 a.m.Â
