Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 3, 2018) - An early lead proved to be too little for the No. 8 Salt Lake Community College women's soccer team, as the Bruins fell victim to a late goal in the NJCAA District One championship match.
Facing off against Region One champion Paradise Valley Community College, the Bruins held an early lead before falling 2-1 to the Pumas, sending PVCC to the automatic berth in the national tournament. The loss puts Salt Lake's overall record at 14-2-1.
The match was deadlocked for the first half, with a series of back-and-forth efforts for both teams. SLCC broke the tie in the match's 55th minute, netting a goal that put the Bruins up 1-0. However, Paradise Valley came back with a goal in the 69th minute, with the winning goal coming in the 75th minute on a penalty kick.
The Bruins will await the announcement of the NJCAA tourney field early in the week, with the hopes of earning an at-large bid into the tournament.
