No. 4 Salt Lake to start second wave of Scenic West play

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 9, 2018) - The No. 4 Salt Lake Community College volleyball program will start the second wave of conference play with significant amounts of wind in their sales.

The Bruins sit with the best record in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, with an overall record of 21-1 and a league record of 5-0. SLCC also defeated a significant opponent last weekend, defeating No. 2 Southern Idaho. Salt Lake has defeated two top-five opponents over the last two weeks, after dispatching then-No. 4 Snow College the week prior. All of that success has SLCC eagerly looking onward, as they prepare for the start of the second-half of the Scenic West season.

The week will feature two more matches at home, as Salt Lake hosts both Colorado Northwestern and USU Eastern on Friday and Saturday. However, SLCC will also be playing a rare early-week non-conference matchup, as the Bruins travel to play Western Wyoming Community College on Tuesday.

"This past weekend is the first time since August 1 we've had two consecutive days off, so scheduling an early-week non-conference match makes sense," she said. "Western Wyoming has a lot of Utah players, so we're familiar with them. I have a lot of respect for Region 9 as they produce quality programs and do well at the national tourney."

Western Wyoming sits at 10-13 overall. WWCC has won four-of-its-last five matches.

Salt Lake will return home this weekend to play two league matches, starting with Colorado Northwestern on Friday. CNCC sits at 3-22 overall, and is 0-5 in league play. Their last victory came on Sept. 30 against a Colorado Mesa University club team. USU Eastern went through the first part of league play with a record of 2-3, featuring an 11-10 overall record. The Eagles' victories came over CNCC and Southern Nevada.

Friday's match will start at 7:00 p.m. inside the Lifetime Activities Center, while Saturday's match will start at 3:00 p.m. Live stats will be available on slccbruins.com.
