Salt Lake, hosting the region tourney for the first time in school history, entered Friday needing just two victories to claim its first-ever Region 18 title, a week after winning the first Scenic West Athletic Conference title. Consider the first-part of that goal completed, as the Bruins rolled to a 3-0 victory over in-state rival USU Eastern in the Region 18 semifinals at Zions Bank Stadium. The victory lifts Salt Lake's overall record on the season to 15-2-1.
Tied at 0-0 midway through the first period, Salt Lake's
Esteban Celis scored on a
Jackson Brady assist, giving the Bruins a 1-0 lead. SLCCÂ put the match away in the second half, with
Enoch Mushagalusa scoring with 66:58 on the clock to stretch the Bruin lead to 2-0.
Innocent Twishime scored on an unassisted goal ten minutes later for Salt Lake.

Isaac Roy had another impressive performance, finishing with eight saves in the match. Salt Lake had 14 shots in the match.
The Bruins will play in-state rival Snow College on Saturday for the Region 18 championship, with the winner advancing to the NJCAAÂ District One Championships next weekend in Arizona. The match will start at 1:30 p.m. at Zions Bank Stadium.Â
