Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 19, 2018) - All season long, the No. 14 Salt Lake Community College men's soccer team has worked with one goal in mind - winning the Scenic West Athletic Conference championship.
SLCCÂ had a variety of challenges and struggles throughout the season, with the Bruins ultimately earning a chance at the title with a victory Friday over USU Eastern. With the door cracked, Salt Lake burst through the opening, earning a 2-0 victory to finish the regular season with a record of 14-2-1 overall and 9-2-1 in the league. With the win, SLCC will possess the top seed in the Region 18 championships next week.
Salt Lake's first goal came on an unassisted
Esteban Celis goal, followed up by an
Aaron Martinez goal on an
Innocent Twishime assist. For the 12th time this season, the Bruins held an opponent scoreless.
For the first time in program history, Salt Lake has won the Scenic West's regular-season championship. The Bruins, by virtue of the women's program earning the SWACÂ title, will host the Region 18 title next weekend at Zions Bank Stadium.
