Bruins men's soccer plans to jumpstart again at home against Snow

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 20, 2017) – A stumbling block presented its way last weekend for a Salt Lake Community College men's soccer program that appeared to be trending nowhere but up.

The Bruins were swept by USU-Eastern in two matches, falling 5-2 and 1-0 to their in-state SWAC rivals in Price. It was a step-back for a program that was previously on a 4-0-1 streak that included sweeping the SWAC openers against Colorado Northwestern and earning a tie against nationally-ranked Iowa Western.

While the weekend was a disappointment, there is no time for the Bruins to dwell on the past as they prepare for another top-quality SWAC opponent in Snow College. SLCC and Snow are scheduled for two matches at the Taylorsville Campus this upcoming weekend.

SLCC head coach Mark Davis said it will be important for the Bruins to have another task to focus on in the aftermath of the disappointing weekend in Price.

The Badgers appear to be a tall test indeed for Salt Lake, entering this weekend's play with a 5-1-0 record. Snow College swept through its SWAC opener last weekend, earning 7-1 and 8-2 victories over Colorado Northwestern. The Badgers are receiving votes in national polls this week.

The success the Badgers have had this season tells the story of who they are as a team. Now the focus is on whether or not Salt Lake can match the intensity, Davis said.

Salt Lake and Snow will play a pair of matches this weekend, with a match at 1:00 p.m. Friday and 3:00 p.m. Saturday. Live stats for both matches will be available at slccbruins.com.
