TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 14, 2017) – Nationally-ranked and on a winning streak, the 16th-ranked Salt Lake Community College Bruin men's soccer program is hoping for more stunning results this weekend in Utah's Color Country.
Â
The Bruins are set for a two-match set against USU-Eastern this weekend, preparing for the second weekend of SWAC play with the confidence of a dominant performance in the opening weekend of the season against Colorado Northwestern. SLCC went 2-0 at the Taylorsville Campus last weekend, earning controlling victories over the Spartans.
Â
Now, as the Bruins prepare for their first conference road trip of the season, SLCC coach
Mark Davis said it's important for his squad to continue to build on their 4-1-1 momentum.
Â
SLCC's matches against the Golden Eagles will be the first of two back-to-back weekends of SWAC play against in-state rivals. The Bruins welcome rival Snow College to the Wasatch Front next weekend. While the date with the Badgers may be circled on some calendars, the Bruins first have to negotiate an inconsistent USU squad.
Â
The Golden Eagles are just 1-3-1 and are 0-1 in league play. On top of that, USU-Eastern is 0-1 in Price. The program is 0-1-1 in conference play, falling to College of Southern Nevada 2-1 and earning a 1-1 split with the Coyotes in last weekend's SWAC opener.
Â
Even with all of the success the Bruins have had as of late, posting impressive offensive numbers while earning a split against nationally-ranked Iowa Western, Davis said the Bruins will have to continue to be focused on continual improvement.
Â
This weekend's SWAC matches against USU-Eastern are scheduled to coincide with the women's matches. The SLCC men will play on Friday at 1:00 p.m. and on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
