Bruins sweep USU Eastern, power into postseason

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 28, 2017) – The Salt Lake Community College volleyball program powered to a dominant win Saturday, closing the Scenic West regular season with a flurry on Sophomore Day.
 
The Bruins earned a 3-0 win over Utah State Eastern, picking up a 25-15, 25-14, 26-24 victory over the Eagles. Salt Lake finished the regular season with an overall record of 21-5, to go along with a SWAC record of 8-2.
 
Like they have so many times this season, the Bruins dominated the stat sheet. SLCC had an advantage in kills (50-29), hitting percentage (.353-.104), and assists (44-27). Salt Lake also had advantages in digs and blocks.
 
Megan Treanor led the Bruins with 15 kills on the day, while To'a Faleao finished with 11 kills. Laken Te'o finished with a team-high 22 assists for Salt Lake.
 
Next for the Bruins is the Region 18 tournament. Due to other results and tiebreakers, the Bruins will await news on the final results for other teams. Likely scenarios include SLCC hosting the tournament if Snow College fell to Southern Nevada, or being the top seed in a region tourney hosted by Snow College in Ephraim.
