Bruins close out regular season, have chance at SWAC title

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (October 19, 2017) – The Salt Lake Community College Men's Soccer program closed the regular season with a rousing victory over rival College of Southern Nevada, setting up an opportunity for SLCC to host a postseason tournament.

After falling to the Coyotes in earlier matches in the season, SLCC earned a 2-0 win over CSN to finish at 8-4-0 in Scenic West play. The Bruins will now wait for the Region 18 tournament information.

The match was tied at 0-0 until the 78th minute, as Bridger Hansen picked up a goal to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Salt Lake's Raul Sanchez added to the Bruins' lead less than two minutes later, giving SLCC a breakaway lead.

Salt Lake held the offensive advantage, finishing with a 12-6 lead in shots. Bruins goalkeeper Tyler Dean finished with a save.

The Region 18 championship will begin on Oct. 27. The Bruins will host the region tourney and be outright SWAC champions if CSN were to lose to Snow College in a match Saturday. The Bruins currently have 24 points, while CSN has 22 points. Only a CSN win will allow the Coyotes to host the region tourney.
