Box Score TWIN FALLS, Idaho- Salt Lake extended their win streak into the post season with a 3-1 (25-27,25-21,25-16,25-21)win over Snow College. The Bruins got off to a shaky start in the first set, taking their first lead after a
Alyssa Walker block put Salt Lake up 25-24. The Bruins had some critical errors and Snow capitalized off of them and ended up stealing first set from SLCC 25-27.
Coach
Sue Dulaney made some adjustments, calmed the Bruins nerves, and the team came out in the second set hungry. After being tied at 6-6, Salt Lake went on a five point tear thanks to three
Aubrie Steiner kills, and stellar defensive plays by
Meilee Brown and
Thamyres Fuchs. The Badgers tried to claw back but the Bruins did not let Snow come closer than a three point deficit. Steiner sealed SLCC's second set win off of a kill to tie the match at 1-1.
The third set was all Salt Lake thanks to early defensive plays by
To'a Faleao,
Andrea Brady, and Walker.
Ellie Cottam and
Olivia Osborn snagged some points for the team too with their two aces in the set. The Bruins steam rolled all the way to the final point winning 25-16 off of a Brady block.
With the Bruins up 2-1 in the match victory was in the air. Salt Lake fell behind early but bounced back off of a Faleao kill and Brown ace sparking 6-1 run. The Bruins held a 24-20 lead after a Faleao kill but the Badgers answered back with a score. The match was sealed after a serving error by Snow confirming the Bruins advancement to the Championship game.
Aubrie Steiner lead the team with 20 kills on .315 hitting and a dig.
Jade Timothy and
To'a Faleao had 11 kills for the Bruins.
Thamyres Fuchs 38 digs and
Alyssa Walker had 46 assists with 10 digs.
Ellie Cottam and
Meilee Brown had 32 digs combined as well as a serving ace each.
Andrea Brady had a team high seven blocks with nine kills.
Olivia Osborn had six kills and two serving aces for the Bruins.
Salt Lake plays for the Region 18 title against Southern Idaho Saturday November 5
th at 1 p.m. in Twin Falls, Idaho.
