VB: SLCC ends the weekend with a 'W'

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah- Salt Lake ended their weekend home stand with a win over Colorado Northwestern 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-14). The Bruins improve to 3-2 in conference play and currently have solid foothold in third place just behind Snow College in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Salt Lake dominated all phases of play and lead the attack at the net with 46 kills in comparison to the Spartans 26 kills.

After a slow first set where the Bruins maintained control throughout, CNCC still hung in relatively close. Salt Lake got their mental errors out of the way and laid the groundwork for the second and third set with an aggressive offense with the help of Jade Timothy, To'a Faleao and Aurbrie Steiner and pulled away ensuring a Bruin win.

Aubrie Steiner lead the Bruin attack with 12 kills on .500 hitting.. Alyssa Walker had an incredible 40 assists on the game and Thaymres Fuchs didn't give any easy points to anyone with her team high 10 digs. To'a Faleao helped the Bruins 11 kills and 3 blocks being responsible for 12.5 points, a team high that tied with Steiner. Andrea Brady challenged the net on defensive for SLCC leading the team with five blocks. Olivia Osborn, Meilee Brown, and Ellie Cottam had a serving ace each.

In regards to the last two games played this weekend, Coach Sue Dulaney said," When we pass well our offense can be creative. It's nice to be home and play in front of our family and friends. We've had a highly competetive and lots of lessons have been learned. Our team has trusted the process and now understands the "why" part of it. That's exciting!! Our goal is to be playing our best volleyball on November 4 & 5."

Salt Lake hosts CSN at 7 p.m. October 14th in Taylorsville, Utah. Southern Nevada is coming off of a win against Snow College, a team the Bruins lost to earlier in the season. SLCC is expecting a motivated and deteremined Coyote squad and are looking to improve in their conference to surpass Snow College in the standings.
