TWIN FALLS, IDAHO – Riding Friday's momentum, the No. 8 Lady Bruins opened up Saturday with a strong win only to lose a heartbreaker to come home 3-1 for the weekend.

Play on Saturday opened up with a familiar foe in Casper College as the Lady Bruins faced the Lady Thunderbirds one week ago when they hosted the Crystal "Inn"vitational. The matched opened up with SLCC taking the first two sets handily by scores of 25-18 and 25-14 to take a 2-0 lead.

Casper then responded by winning set three 23-25, however SLCC took set four 25-18 to seal the 3-1 victory. Jessica Quayle (Ogden, UT) was huge in the match as she hit .416 overall. Sequoia Lofton (Spokane, WA) continued her strong play hitting .352 with three blocks. Overall, the team combined for eight service aces.

Match two of the day saw a dogfight between SLCC and Northwest College as all sets played were decided by four points or less. Northwest took set one over the Lady Bruins by a tight score of 25-27. SLCC quickly responded with a 25-21 set two win to even the score 1-1.

In the closely contested remaining sets, the Lady Trappers were able to pull out sets three and four both by scores of 24-26 over SLCC to wrap up the victory for Northwest. Carol Grasso (Sao Paulo, Brazil) had a monster match putting down 24 kills while hitting .380 and also added 16 digs. Penny Gwynn (Hamilton, MT) hit .444 coming off the bench.

Sadie Pond (Herriman, UT) hit .250 overall with eight kills and libero Mariana Pilon (Sao Paulo, Brazil) added 25 digs, respectively.

Next up for Head Coach Sue Dulaney and the SLCC volleyball team will be the highly anticipated Blinn Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13, in Brenham, Texas. Friday matches for SLCC will feature No. 9 Hillsborough College and No. 1 Blinn College. Saturday matches will be No. 15 Hill College and No. 5 Tyler Junior College.
