TWIN FALLS, IDAHO – After going 2-2 in the Crystal "Inn"vitational, the No. 8 SLCC volleyball team got back on track with two impressive wins in the STARR Corporation Invitational in Twin Falls, Ida.
The Lady Bruins opened up play at 1 p.m. against Central Arizona College and wasted zero time as SLCC swept CAC in straight sets 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-16).
To go along with the sweeping victory, many players had solid all-around performances.
Sequoia Lofton (Spokane, WA) hit .666 while putting down six kills. Outside hitters
Kallie Schmit (Kalama, WA) and
Carol Grasso (Sao Paulo, Brazil) combined for 22 additional kills leading to .325 team hitting percentage and also five aces.
Rachel Davis (Riverton, UT) and
Ailin Donati (Rome, Italy) added a combined 31 assists.
Match two saw the Lady Bruins face No. 19 Hutchinson Community College and pulled out victory number two of the day once again in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-21).
It was Lofton, Schmit and Grasso leading the way offensively again as the three combined for 34 kills hitting .700, .541 and .400 respectively.
SLCC added six more aces as
Mariana Pilon (Sao Paulo, Brazil) chipped in 10 digs.
The Lady Bruins will now play two more matches Saturday, Sept. 6, with match one being against Casper College at 11 a.m. and match two against Northwest College at 3 p.m.
