Carol Grasso and Sequoia Lofton named to the Blinn Invitational All-Tournament team

BRENHAM, TX – With a 2-2 weekend against top competition last Friday and Saturday in the Blinn Invitational, sophomores Carol Grasso and Sequoia Lofton have been named as members of the All-Tournament team.

Grasso (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has been No. 8 SLCC's bread-and-butter all season as in the four matches in Texas she amounted 47 kills and three aces to go along with 39 digs and seven blocks, one dig away from averaging a double-double. So far in 2014 the reigning NJCAA First Team All-American and Region 18 Player of the Year has totaled 225 kills by hitting .298, 19 aces, 222 digs, and 12 kills.

Lofton (Spokane, WA) was huge for the Lady Bruins in the middle by hammering 31 kills by hitting an astounding .311. She put down four aces to go along with 15 blocks to average over one block per set. Her 2014 season has been solid as well as she has 103 kills, 13 aces, and an incredible 52 blocks.

In 2014, the SLCC Lady Bruins are 11-5 overall with four of the five losses coming at the hands of team ranked in the top seven nationally. Head Coach Sue Dulaney and the team are now preparing for their home opener which is Tuesday, Sept. 23, against No. 7 Western Wyoming Community College. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
