SLCC Volleyball to open 2013 season at Reiver Classic
Bruins to face three ranked teams in first four matches of 2013
Salt Lake City, UT—The
No. 6-ranked SLCC Volleyball team will open the 2013 season this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23-24 at the Reiver Classic in Council Bluffs, IA. In its first four matches, SLCC will play three teams ranked in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Top 5.
On Friday, the Bruins will face tournament host
No. 2 Iowa Western Community College at 1:00 p.m. and will take on
No. 4-ranked San Jacinto Community College at 5:00 p.m. SLCC will square off with Polk State College on Saturday at Noon and will close out the Reiver Classic against
No. 1 Western Nebraska Community College at 4:00 p.m. All start times listed for CST.
Bruin Volleyball enters the season ranked in the NJCAA Top 10 for the eighth consecutive season and will play a total of 14 matches against teams ranked in the NJCAA Top 20 Preseason Poll. Eight of the 14 matches against ranked opponents are slated against teams ranked in the Top 10 to start the year.
The Bruins finished the 2012 season with an overall record of 22-7 and a 7-3 mark in Scenic West Athletic Conference competition. SLCC will play its first home match of the year on Friday, Aug. 30 against
No. 8-ranked Missouri State University-West Plains at Bruin Arena with first serve set for 10:00 a.m.
