Bruins defeat North Idaho College behind Grasso's 16-kill outing

COEUR D'ALENE, ID—The No. 7-ranked SLCC Volleyball team (15-5, 3-0 SWAC) defeated No. 16 North Idaho College (NIC) (10-6, 3-1 SWAC) 3-1 on Saturday by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-23 and 26-24. The win moves SLCC into sole possession of first place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) as the league's only unbeaten team in conference play.

The victory marks the third consecutive win for the Bruins over nationally-ranked SWAC opponents to begin the conference season.

SLCC Stats vs. NIC: Freshman outside hitter Carol Grasso (Sao Paulo, Brazil) turned in 16 kills and sophomore outside hitter Bailee Kendall (Mt. Pleasant, UT) added 14 kills in the winning effort. Sophomore setter Baylie Henrie (Kaysville, UT) had 40 assists and sophomore libero (defensive specialist) Indigo Allen (North Salt Lake, UT) finished the contest with 16 total digs.

Next up for Head Coach Sue Dulaney and SLCC Volleyball is the team's SWAC home opener against USU-Eastern (4-13, 0-2 SWAC) on Friday, Oct. 11 at Bruin Arena with first serve slated for 7 p.m.
