No. 5 SLCC Volleyball sweeps third season series with 3-0 win over CNCC

Rangeley, CO—The No. 5-ranked Salt Lake Community College Women's Volleyball team (22-5, 7-2 SWAC) eased past Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) foe Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) (0-19, 0-7 SWAC) 3-0 on Saturday. The win gives the Bruins their third conference season series sweep of 2012.

With the victory, SLCC has clinched the No. 2 seed in the Region 18 Volleyball Championships, with the tournament to be hosted by No. 3-ranked College of Southern Idaho (CSI) (23-1, 8-0 SWAC) on Nov. 2-3 in Twin Falls, ID.

SLCC sophomore middle hitter Mayra Ramirez (Calle, Columbia) was named SWAC Athlete-of-the-Week and in conference play is averaging over one block and 2.3 kills per set.

Next up for the Bruins will be the final regular season match of the year, as the team will take on conference and in-state rival Snow College (14-8, 4-4 SWAC) on Sat., Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. The match takes place on SLCC's Sophomore Day. The Bruins defeated Snow College in three sets on Oct. 5 in Ephraim, UT.
