No. 5 SLCC Volleyball drops home contest to rival Southern Idaho in four sets

5th-ranked Bruins drop to 4-2 in SWAC play with loss to No. 3 CSI

Salt Lake City, UT—The No. 5-ranked SLCC Women's Volleyball team (19-5, 4-2 SWAC) fell at home to its fiercest rival, No. 3 College of Southern Idaho (CSI) (21-1, 6-0 SWAC) in a four-set match on Friday night. The Lady Eagles of CSI won the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) battle by scores of 22-25, 25-18, 25-12 and 25-19.

SLCC sophomore outside hitter Maddie Bushman (Tucson, AZ) led the Bruins with 13 kills, also turning in two block assists. Sophomore middle hitter Mayra Ramirez (Calle, Columbia) had 10 kills and was in on three blocks, and freshman outside hitter Camry Godfrey turned in seven kills in the losing effort.

Next up for Head Coach Sue Dulaney and the Bruins is another key conference match on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. as SLCC takes on No. 6-ranked North Idaho College (NIC) (17-2, 4-2 SWAC) on Alumni Day. The Bruins defeated NIC earlier this year in five sets on the road at Coeur d'Alene, ID.
