SALT LAKE CITY- The 7^th ranked SLCC Bruin Volleyball team split day one of the Marriott Residence Inn tournament.  The Bruins defeated Northwest Powell in three sets (25-23, 25-15, 25-14) but fell in three to Western Nebraska (20-25, 12-25, 23-25).  The Bruins are 5-1 overall and will face Central Wyoming and West Plains tomorrow at Bruin Arena. 

Kellie Turner led the way against Northwest Powell with 11 kills and five aces.  Maddie Bushman added eight kills while Layla Redondo finished with nine kills, two aces.  Libero Whitney Aston led the team defensively with 12 digs. 

Redondo led Salt Lake offensively against Western Nebraska with eight kills, three aces.  Myra Ramirez added seven kills and Whitney Ashton had 11 digs.   

 The Bruins return to the court to take on Central Wyoming (9:00 am) and Missouri West Plains (1:00 pm) tomorrow at the Marriott Residence Inn Tournament.
